When Your Security Kit Arrives
- Verify that the MyPropertyID tag numbers in your kit match the numbers on the database.
Apply MyPropertyID Tags
- Identify smooth plastic and metal surfaces where ID tags will be applied.
- Clean area with alcohol, window or household cleaner.
- Rub area completely clean and dry.
- Apply ID tags and press firmly in place.
- Do not disturb ID tags for at least 7 days.
- Once applied, ID tags cannot be easily removed.
- You may want to hide an ID tag on an individual piece of property, and if you do, you can record the secret location in your online account.
Caution: Do not adhere ID tags to wood, silver, jewelry or any other item that has inherent value that would be diminished by the application of an industrial adhesive.
Caution: Don’t apply ID tags or labels to surfaces that are below freezing

Enter Make, Model and Serial Numbers
- Login to your account with your username and password.
- Add the make, model and serial number next to the ID tag number.
- There is also space for additional notes.
- Be sure to familiarize yourself with other features of the website.
Not a Stand-Alone Burglary Deterrent

Attach Exterior Labels
- Identify smooth glass, plastic or metal exterior surfaces where labels will be applied.
- Labels should be visible from a distance.
- Clean area with alcohol, window or household cleaner, and dry thoroughly.
- Once applied, labels cannot be easily removed.
Display Window Cling Labels
- Identify interior windows or storm doors where window clings will be applied.
- Window clings should be visible from a distance.
- Clean area with alcohol, window or household cleaner, and dry thoroughly.
- Place directly on interior glass, facing outward.
- Window clings are removable and reusable.
Recovering Property
- If you have been burglarized, contact your local law enforcement agency, and provide them with the MyPropertyID tag number and the make, model and serial number.
- If the MyPropertyID website receives information about your tagged property, you will be automatically notified.
- If you receive an email from the MyPropertyID website that your property has been found or retrieved, immediately contact law enforcement if you believe a crime has been committed.
- If a crime has not been committed and you choose to retrieve your property from a third party, please review the Personal Safety page on our website.
